Comprehensive Health Care and Vaccine Recommendations for Cats



  • Health Exam-annual, more frequently if pet is a Senior or has health issues; required with rabies & distemper vaccines
  • Rabies Vaccine-required by City ordinance
  • Distemper Combo Vaccine – “FVRCP”
  • Deworming - for intestinal parasites; recommended by the CDC at least annually; parasites can be transmitted to humans, most often children; low risk if exclusively indoors


  • Feline Leukemia Vaccine – “FeLV”; transmission by blood, feces or saliva cat-to-cat; low risk if exclusively indoors and no outdoor cats in household
  • Feline Leukemia/FIV test
  • strongly recommended for outdoor cats, strays, kittens
  • multi-cat households
  • low risk if exclusively indoors and no outdoor cats in household
  • testing advised at least once in cat’s lifetime as cats can be carriers without displaying symptoms



  • Annual Teeth Cleaning/Dental Treatment – recommended yearly beginning at 1 year of age
  • Baseline Blood Screening – to identify potential problems in the early stages
  • Senior Health Programs – early identification and management of health issues common to the aging pet; maximize quality of life well into the senior years
